Default PS3 expectations?

What do you all think based on recent news and old news? Is Sony screwed or not? I think they are with the PS3 costing so much, a gauranteed loss per unit, and poor sales in other areas.

I'm sure they wouldn't have wasted htis much time with their marketing, creation, design, programming, development, and technology if it was going to be a negative grossing product. People paid a fortune for xbox 360 off ebay, one went for 16k the first week of release. I'm sure they will do the same with PS3; but I'm also sure I won't.

^^ Theres one reason for all of that.. They want to make Blu-Ray the standard of media, thinking that may start bringing in some money if it takes off. lol but sony doesnt get money off of E-bay sales of consoles lol. Thats just the guy who bought one first.

the reason they went for some much on ebay is you couldnt get one in the store.. micrsoft didnt see any part of those profits people made on their on on ebay.. i dont recall seeing one sell for 16k.. thats just not believable for me.. and sony might not have intended to waste their time but the way things are looking.. they have..

I had to go with No Opinion. The PS3 is definitely not a joke, it will have a huge impact on the market regardless of its problems. But I can't say whether it will "help greatly" until we have a real price point, not speculation. Every dollar over $499 diminishes how mush the PS3 can help them.
