The PSP has no region encodeing on games, so you can buy a psp from any region and play games from any region. However, the movies are all regionly encoded, so you will only be able to play movies from where you purchased the PSP.

Basicaly in a nutshell, yes, the american PSP will play imported games. I curently play the BLEACH game on mine.

EDIT: If you do import the PSP, you should get the white one. My black one picks up fingerprints like crazy.

Like danvas said you cna play any game from anywhere in the world with any PSP,

However Movies you cannot.

I personnally have a white psp from jap, and tbh i dont use it as much as i hoped i would. If you know your going to have the time to use it get it, if not get a decent phone with camera, wifi etc.

You will be able to play games from anywhere as they arnt region coded. However the UMD movies are so you will have trouble playing UMD movies from other regions.

The answer is yes, but please don't ask how to do it or for links to web sites or programs that will do it for you. Ripping a UMD is the same as ripping a DVD which, while easy to do, has been proven in court to be illegal in the U.S. (specifically, the DeCSS case against "DVD Jon"). So let's not talk about it here, use Google if you want more info.
