They need to not use HDMI, but I guess they have no other choice because or the stupid DRM for Blu-Ray.

So what are people going to do with the lower end $499 version that have blu-ray, but they can't watch HD movies if they dont have a way to copy protect it with HDMI , if that if HDCP/HDMI cables are going to be bundled or are going to be completely separate

I dont get why you would even want the cheaper version of PS3, just like the 360, its cheaper in the long run to buy the best. I think sony did a half-assed job of making two different bundles. Unless you are really strapped for cash and could not possibly wait, I dont think you should buy the cheap version.

Although you would have to think so, I honestly don't see how. HDMI is integral to the copy protection scheme in both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD.

Why is this console lark going to get more expensive and generally annoying. The whole HDMI and blue ray to me is getting to be a headache.
