hi my ps2 is old i got it when it first came out and it wont play games newer then 2002 ,i think i need to update the bios """correct me if im wrong"""but idk how its done


so PLZ HELP ME


also it wont play any dvds and cds i know it works cuz im plaing spyderman right now lol

Is it a big one? Not the skinny kind? If so, the ~first generation one's cd-readers, like mine, wear out after about a 2-3 year period of use. Afterwards, it just gets worse until you replace it. I had to pay sony $60 to fix it, just give em a call; I think the number was on the PS2. And make sure you have the PS2 with you because they make you read the serial and more. They should be able to help w/ your problem.

You can try givin it a good cleaning and reseat the laser as this will effect the load of different cd types...my would only play certain games till i did this....you might also consider cleaning the track guides and to adjust the laser there is a Lin wrench that is a gear that will raise and lower the laser but be careful as you might throw it off and have to spend about a hour finding a adjustment that works.

ok, if it IS one of the older ones.
then the process is fairly simple (if you can open up your comp, then you're fine)

Start up your ps2, and press eject, you have to have the disc drive in the ejected position to get to the parts. All you do is pull of the rubber grips on the bottom, and remove the screws.
Then, CAREFULLY, pull up slowly, and find the ribbon cable. (silvery thing that connects to the rest and eject buttons. Remove it CAREFULLY, if you break this its about 9 dollars for a new one. Then look inside for a small white gear. This is the adjustment gear for the angle of elevation on the laser. Tinker with it until you get it into a leveled position (this may take a few tries, so don't give up after one) and try a game or two. Hopefully everything works no problem. If not, it may be something else.

send it back to Sony, theyll fix it or send you a brand new ps2. the reason is the disk read error, which they got sued for and now your enabled to free repairs from sony if you have a Disk Read Error. If you go to the sony site ( fourms ) or if you google it, im sure you can find it. But IMO, best way is to send it back and get a new one, and for sure youll probably get a new Slim PS2 for free, courtacy of Sony. =D

Or you can fix it.. by yourself.
