Sony: If We Make It, They Will Buy
SCEE CEO brimming with confidence regarding PS3.

When Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO David Reeves admits that "key launch titles" will slip into 2007 he also admits that to Sony, it doesn't really matter what ships at launch.
"We have built up a certain brand equity over time since the launch of PlayStation in 1995 and PS2 in 2000 that the first five million are going to buy it, whatever it is, even it didn't have games," Reeves told Computer and Video Games in an interview. During the same interview, Reeves admits that Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm and Formula One will all see release in early 2007 within the PS3 "launch window." Insomniac's gritty World War II shooter (with aliens) Resistance: Fall of Man will be there at launch according to Reeves.
It's not games like Heavenly Sword slipping into the "launch window" instead of the "launch day" category that is concerning -- it's Sony admitting that even if there were no games to purchase, consumers would still be lining up en masse to grab the PS3. We get it, Sony, you were the market leader for two solid generations of console making, but you might be placing a little too much faith in the perceived strength of your brand to ask people to fork over $600 for your console regardless of the available software.

yea sonys good and all but latley they have made some really bad moves. every great empire will fall eventually. sony is next as far as consols are concerned.

Well sony has every right to believe that people will line up just to get one without games. This is because it will be new. And there are THOUSANDS, no MILLIONS of dumb people out there that will buy one at a really high price just to have on first.
I will not buy one for at least 2 years after it's release. That way all the REAL bugs are worked out, and they are way cheaper. Just like now, if you buy a PS2 on ebay you could probably get it and all cables and a few games for what, like $100, maybe $75?
Although I believe sony is a controlling company. They honestly care about 1 thing. That is money. I don't blame them though because our entire country is completly controlled by this thing called money. But this brings them to make products that break easily (so people bring them in and have them fixed for a fortune). It also makes sony focus more on what it can do, as opposed to quality. (like they focus on quantity not quality, as far as features go). I mean a game system that can do every thing a PC can do is ridiculus(sp). If I want something that can surf the internet, and play all sorts of media, as well as brush your teeth for you I would get a PC. Now if I really want to game I would get a really GOOD PC or a game system.
And on that completly dragged on and off the topic note I will end.

Well if you notice, the 360 was and still is far from perfect. Besides, the 360 would've cost this much if Microsoft wasn't worth so much money. I think that the PS3 will do quite well.
