I need advice from people that have my PSU. I tested it out today, but when I switch the mains power on and the switch to on, on the PSU. But not the computer on, the PSU makes a buzzing noise is this right?

Well have you check that there isnt a hair or dust constricting the fan as thats the first thing you should check..When your PC is on look into your PSU and see if there is anything going on in there that there shouldnt be.

It is most likely just voltage leakage causing noise (electrical interference to put it simply)

well I get the buzzing noise when the psu is on, but the pc off. Its the sound of electricity passing though, is this what happens with a new PSU(I didnt think electrcity passing through would be this loud).

Sure thing but dont run that PSU with too much load on it or it may do something you may not like..Dont run anygames until you identify the issue.

You would have noticed the buzzing or humming sound coming from it, transformers or voltage step-up devices will do this and how much generally is determined by the quality of construction and suppression. Inside your PSU you have a transformer be it alot smaller etc and this is what I refer too. I must note that whilst this may or may not be the case at point here. You need to confirm whether the symptoms you are having are within the product specifications . So to have it technically assessed is a good thing. cheers
