Default Need a good UPS...

Well...I'm moving off-grid and onto generated power

So that means not only do I lose my DSL Pro for a wireless-satellite connection, but I now I gotta find a good UPS for both my wifes and my computers. I need something that can handle both systems (600w/350w), at full or mostly full load for at least 10 minutes, preferably more. The thing is...I'd rather not have to spend much more than $200, since I still have to buy new RAM(yay, one stick died this weekend!), and a few new games to keep me occupied(I have to give up my MMO's, sat-link isnt stable enough I dont think), but could stretch a bit higher if necessary. .

Also, I'm not against getting two individual UPS's if getting two smaller units might be better/more cost efficient.

Thanx yo'

EDIT: BTW, Im sort of limited in power consumption to about 3kw

UPSs are expensive. Spend as much as your budget allows, and don't upgrade or get games. Those suck power.

I decided to double my budget for the UPS(s), I'm leaning towards getting two of these....

Selecto is right...the VA rating is a misnomer, it's the power rating for the devices plugged into the UPS...NOT the maximum battery time. The physically bigger the UPS, the larger the batteries are...the longer you can stay on the UPS.

Hmm...well I only need enough run-time to either put more fuel in my generator, or to shut down my systems, more would be nice of course, so I could be a little lazy, but, mostly I mainly wanted something to keep my system (mostly) stable during instances of generator "coughs" ...well, looks like no RAM and no games, and a good UPS...

or I could just get em all and not get new tires lol ...that'll save me $700!
thx guys

Watch for the Frys, Circuit City or what ever. I saved a major bundle on an Belkin 850w and kept almost 1/2 the price in my pocket with out a rebate!

Look on EBAY for dead used UPS's Try to get big APC's or Delkin's. Have the seller remove the batteries before transport. Then. buy new batteries online for abut 100$. I got a server room class UPS that way. Paid about 200$ for a 1000$ UPS.
