Hey guys -
__________________I am working on my first build, I just got an OCZ 600W GameXStream ATX 2.0 power supply. I still have not recieved my mobo yet, but I wanted to plug the PSU into my case fans to test them. When I plugged the psu into the fans and switched the PSU on - the PSU did not turn on, neither did the fans. So either: a.) the PSU is dead and I need to RMA or b.) I need to actually plug it into a mobo for it to turn on. (I think I may have read you need to connect the green and black wires with a paperclip or something to test it... no way I'm going to do this, but if this is true, I won't be worried about my psu being dead. So let me know if you think it is dead or what the deal is. Thanks.

You need to short 2 wires, which the mobo basically just does for you. It's a +12V (I think, but i know it's green) to a ground (Black) AFAIK.

Try jumpstarting the PSU if you can. Here is how you do it. http://www.overclock.net/faqs/96712-...upply-psu.html
Also you may have to wait for your new components to give it a full test so i would wait before Rma'ing it yet.

ATX PSU's work differently than older ones. They are always "on" as long as the switch in the back is on - but in order to power anything it waits for a signal from the mobo. you can test it using the method in the faq linked above
