Hey guys. I am planning on getting a new rig for conroe or quad-core this winter and am planning everything out in advance. I have been thinking about getting an Antec P180, which has compartments for the PSU. Well, I need to know how long the cables are for this power supply because it really seems to suit my needs. Its modular (pretty much a must for the compartmentalized construction of the case), powerful, and has great reviews. Its on the expensive side, but I wanna make sure that my Conroe, R600 graphics card, and Asus mobo (P5WDH Deluxe) are powered well.
Does anyone know how long the cables are in this PSU (especially the 24-pin mobo cable)? I would greatly appreciate comments and suggestions as well as an answer to this question. I reward handsomely =D

They are around 2 to 2.5 feet. I didn't like my Enermax FYI. Hot and noisy. And the cables with the standard 4pin molex connectors are WAY over populated. Very ugly.

did you have the modular one or a zeus or what? I heard that the liberty was super super quiet. Also....I am going to have like 5 120mm fans in my case (though, albiet lowrpm fans).

You don't need modular imo. I have a FSP PSU (awesome PSU) with the fan pointing down, exhausting air, and I shoved my excess cables on top of the PSU (there is space there yes). Then I removed the center fan (HDD's are cooled by a 92mm zip-tied to the front of the case) and HDD power cables just stay down. Then, up go the main power cable, the P4 power connector, the two PCI-E cables, and one cable with molex plugs for DVD and a bunch of fans.
The P4 cable will likely be the one that gives the most trouble, but my FSP works fine with it, and the connector is at the upper edge of my motherboard (can't get any further away from the PSU).

Let me clarify about the noise...it's not coming from the air cooling...it's coming from the PSU itself. a strange harmonic sound and a humming.

Hello.
A friend has the P180 case with the Liberty PSU using a DFI NF4 motherboard and his cables are a bit on the short side. The 12v connection is ok but the 24pin is too short and has to use one of these: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=204562

The Enermax Liberty PSU's have been rated as on of the quiest PSU's out there (reading bigbruin.com). The fan is a 80cfm and is practically silent, my 500w liberty came today so when I get home I will give further review on it. But what I think you are going to run into with the P180 is cable length. That case is very demanding on your PSU cables and well cables in general. So if you do get it I suggest buying some extenders with it just in case. No sense waiting all that time and then not being able to use it till another part comes.

What I recommend for the P180 is the following layout:
- Remove center fan in lower chamber - zip-tie a 92mm fan to the front in the lower chamber - Mount hard drives in the lower chamber - keep SATA power cables down.. - REMOVE upper HDD rack completely (I even removed the black sliders). This will improve intake quite a bit - One powerful intake fan in front (Silverstone!) - Two exhaust fans in the back and top (you can use the stock fans; since there is two, no need for them to be very powerful - more intake is better than more exhaust anyways in my opinion). This keeps my temps nice. Case/MoBo: 29 idle/33 load CPU: 37 idle/47 load

Yeah, my load case temps about about 50-53C right now. I was planning on taking out those black pieces if possible, to mount my pump. I was going to use a 120mm fan in the lower chamber, where the hard drives would be instead of your recommended 92mm one (is 120mm the size of the slot?). I was going to take out the fan between the bottom hard drive tray and the PSU (seems redundant). I was also going to use two vantec stealths in the upper Mobo chamber for rear outtake and the blowhole.
I have a sata hard drive so your recommendation will work fine. I am hoping to maybe mount my 120.2 rad on the rear of the case, outside.
