I was playing BF2, and my computer just turned off. I thought that maybe it was because I was running folding@home while I played BF2. However, the computer would not turn back on. So I went to investigate. The motherboard light had turned off.... Not a good sign. I check the outlet, it is fine. I changed cables, the cable is fine. The PSU will not turn on, and the motherboard light remains dark.

Specs on PSU;

Antec SmartPower 2.0

500W
ATX 12V V2.0

+5V = 35A
+12V = 17A
+12V(2) = 19A

PC Specs:

Pentium D 920 running at 4060Mhz (1.425Vcore)

Ok Unplug the PSU totally and leave it out of the case for 10 mins. Discharge all the power in te case by holding down the power down button. Now this kind of thing can also be fixed Via a CMOS reset...Im not kidding. I would give all that a go.

Have you tried jumping the psu by itself? Sounds like it did go....or mabye the mb did.

Also you could give your PSU a smell. It sounds odd, But you may smell burnt Plastic. But I would try what Enterprise said first even if it smells a bit toasty.

Just out of curiosity how old was the PSU? Age really has nothing to do with whether it may or may not have gone out on you, I was just wondering.

Unfortunately that doesn't mean a whole lot. Electronics will do stupid things. Try jumping the psu out of the case and that should give you your answer.
