Default comp wont turn on

okay so this is my first build from 100% scratch, so I got everything in the case hooked everything uo and tried to turn it on but nothing happened no PSU fan no beeps nadda

Soooooo I realised that my other computer had these plastic things to hold the motherboard and that they didnt use screws so that was a learning experiance

so i unplugged everything put the plastic things in but i left most of the stuff unplugged (there was power to the mobo and the ram was in and cpu ) and i connected the power cable from the button to the mobo i didnt know which wasy the little blue and white cable should face so i tired it all ways and nothing, so i replaced the PSU with the one from the comp in my sig still nothing.....did i break the mobo with the screws?

Is the PSU set to the corect Voltage? (it should be 115 if you live in the continental US)

Yes, probn4lyfe might be right. First, though, test your psu by either jumpering it, or putting it in another pc.

and i put the PSU from my other computer that works on it and it still didnt turn on so i know its not the PSU I know its not the power cord cause i tested that too...and the outlet so all i can guess is that i killed the motherboard

Try isolating the mobo from everything to see if is fried. Disconnect everything, memory, cards, everything, pull your motherboard from the case, reconnect the PSU and maybe one fan and turn it on, if you get no reaction from your mobo, ie no green light/fan off than you've probably fried it. If you get a reaction then hopefully your mobo is good but something else is causing the short. Reconnect the mobo and PSU into the case and start adding one item at a time, hitting the power button in between each until your original problem returns. Then you know the culprit. I once had the same problem and it turned out to be my usb scanner.

Disconnect the Motherboard and use the bare essentials. However set all this up outside the case when testing to make sure you are not being earthed.

Also test that your PSU is ok and that you can start it with this FAQ : http://www.overclock.net/faqs/96712-...upply-psu.html
