Default PSU terms questions

So ive been reading here and there on the forum about power supplies and they're terms and all that....

i found a 20 dollar 500 watt ULTRA X Connect on xoxide.com... and was reading around on other power supplies tooo

sooo my questions are

1. what are rails?
2. Why dual rails and why not?
3. Would the Ultra X Connect be a good power supply? personal experiences? (is this dual rail?)
4. Would the psu be good in the future... lets say for SLI or just use in teh future?

like 20 bucks? and today is the last day? should i just buy it just for the hell of it?

I run an Antec Smartpower 2 with 500 watts and i think it has dual rails... whatever that means...

THANKS SO MUCH!

1. Rails are what run your PSU so to speak there the main power flow.
2. Dual rails means you have 2 x +12vRails. This aids in the stability of the PSU as it can distribute power better to different parts of your system.
3. The Ultra X connect is a nice PSU and does feature Dual rails however i would reccomend the Hiper Type R.

If you are thiking of going SLI you will want a more powerful PSU if i where to be honest.

This is a nice High end PSU that will last and be great for multiple GPU'S : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341002

personaly.... here is my theory.

u build a rig. sell the rig minus the godly psu u spend 200$ on and put a crappy 50$ psu in it after a year of using it

then u use that godly psu in ur new rig

see where im going

http://www.pcpowercooling.com/produc...hp?show=S61EPS
http://www.pcpowercooling.com/produc...hp?show=S75EPS
those seem to be the best psus for the price on the market ^_^

i know. i know. 200$ or 159$ but think about this...

49 and 60 amps on the SINGLE RAIL

last u for years too because its id say probaly the best brand that exists quality wise.... they are usually expensive... but these seem to be very nice prices

being the psu controls the volts, watts, and amps for ur pc. it can be a major threat to your components if you cheap out on it

and unless they come out with something like Q-ata u shouldnt have to worrie about ur psu ont being compadible

thats why i belive the psu shouuld be the highest quality componet in a computer!!!

i hope my opinions help u make the right choice

also if you look at the ocz gamextrream 700 watt it is same price sas the lower prices power&cooling above. but the power&cooling has more amps! and a better reputation for HIGH QUALITY products

blah blah blah i like to talk today... lol il shut up now.

like u knoe where the power supply is just by itself... and they give u a bunch of cables... and u only need to use how ever much u need instead of a bunch of cables already built in....

yeh i knoe it has nothing to do with the actualy performance or quality of the psu but this is more of a convience and style thing u knoe... yeh but what do u think
