i am building my first computer and i am putting a intel dual core cpu in it. i was told that to run a dual core i need a eps power supply or somthing along those lines can someone tell me if this is true or can i just use any atx power supply?

the eps just means that the normal atx psu is certified to run a server mobo... or a dual cpu mobo. It'll have a 20+4 or 24 pin atx mobo connector and it will have the standard 4 pin atx cpu connector and an 8 pin eps connector. Some mobos like my dfi expert require the 8 pin power connector for the cpu... it'll work with only a 4 pin psu connector, but 8 is definately better.
Most high end psus will do both anyway so you don't need to worry. For example my Seasonic S12-600 has all the connectors you would ever need
