had this happen to me about half way through the summer, kinda was bad for me since I was holding on to the powersupply at the time (working on computer) and the smart blew out towards me and it sounded like a shotgun going off.

lol i had this happen a few months ago. computer was fine chugging along and then BAM! sounded like a gun went off inside my case. sure enough one of the caps had blown. if you have it under warranty send it in and have them replace it. if you know componant level reapir, open it up and see if its fixable. if you dont have either of those two options... looks like you in for a trip to a computer parts supplier.

did you read my post? i said IF you have componant level repair skills. IF one knows what they are doing there is really little danger. also there isnt much danger of killing yourself with a power supply. trust me. now a monitor... thats a different world.

No i certainly disagree. Even for an experienced person this type of thing is very dangerous, and certainly unnecassary if you are going to RMA. Please do not open up the psu as it will void your warranty and put your life in danger. If and only if you are going to open it up, then you will need to drain the residual power rom the capacitors before you even attempt such a thing. I think you do this by putting a paper clip between the green and the black wire....not really sure and dont take my word for it. I doubt you are going to open the case but just a heads up.
Ask most people on here and they will warn you against it, simply because they can and have killed before. Its most certainly blown so good luck with the RMA (all the info i have just said, i have got off this site, as i was to going to open my psu case and got informed. )
