Default 120mm fan suggestion

I posted earlier but just got ripped on for my PSU choice lol. Anyway - I'm just curious if people have a recomendation for a good fan to be used in my PSU (other one is noisy). I know I need something that will perform well, but I'm really looking for something that will be quiet even at higher air flows, the rest of my system is very quiet.

Any suggestions? If nothing else what kind of airflow should I look for in a PSU fan?

anything is better than what I have now I think lol. Granted the fan I use has a very bright set of leds in it but that's no big deal.

I just have no idea what kind of airflow I really need. I don't mind it making some noise as I have to be realistic, but I'm trying to make an improvement really. As I asked, is there a level of air flow I should shoot for when looking around?

I have the last one, and you need the fan controller to keep it quiet, but it pushes a huge amount of air, worth the cash.

The thunderblade 120mm fan you recommended looks pretty good and quiet. Will 78 cfm be enough airflow (550 Watt Power Supply)?

Yeah, you could get away with like 45CFM. It's just a PSU, not a whole system. But then again I'm a noise freak.

Just because you start a new thread doesn't mean you're going to get different answers. I firmy stand behind my previous post

Quote:
you can change the fan... but you would be better off scrapping that Ultra psu and getting a real psu. *(ultra makes some of the worst psus ever! they have been known to blow up!)
I would never put an ultra anywhere near one of my systems, and I would never put money into one to change the fan out... even if I got it for free... hell you'd have to pay me money to get me to use one.

btw... fill in your rig specs in the user cp
I also think that Fishie had a good point
Quote:
The fan spins up for a reason so if you replace it with a slower fan it's just gonna overheat... don't do it.

If you want a quality quiet PSU look in to the seasonic series. They are insanely efficient so there's a lot less heat being output... hence no need for noisy fans.
thread is here: http://www.overclock.net/power-suppl...worth-fan.html

I still don't think you should bother to change out the fan for the reasons previously mentioned. Plus, if you do change the fan you void the warranty (not that I've never voided any of my warranties...) Furthermore, before you can do so you need to see if your psu uses a standard fan (120x25mm) I have seen some psus that use skinnier fans.

If you want a queit fan look to Yate Loon. they make some of the best silent fans money can buy and are relativly cheap Seasonic uses Yate Loons in their S12 series of PSUs

If you are getting a new PSU, try the 600 watt OCZ made by FSP group.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341001

$105, cheaper then the S12-600 by about $50.
