I know this is gonna sound totally out there... but compare the weight and see which one is heavier. A quality 300watt will easily beat a cheapo 450watt.

Interesting point.

IMO (all things being equal) I would say yes.

you could always test the 450 w/ a multimeter that can place a load on the unit. You might have to network yourself to see if someone you know owns one that you could borrow.

Weight is usually a very good indicator of the quality of a PSU. Notice how all case PSU's feel hollow and a nice PSU will feel like lead?

Ya, "If it's heavy, it's quality" is more than a colloquialism. There is a substatial amount of truth to the statement.

ok well i decided insted of buying a new psu im just going to have 1 psu run my video card and the other run my hd,dvd driver, fans etc. so im going to use the better 300 watt for the video card and the other for drives and stuff.

No. No I did not. But I will from now on

Makes sense, heavier means either A) better quality parts, or B)no slacking on anything for the sake of weight?

im going to use spooks multi PSU guide to have 2 psu's and have 1 plug into my video card and the other into my mobo and drives etc/. but what will happen when i turn my pc off the 2nd psu will still be running power to my video card. Can i leave it running (will it hurt my video card) or do i have to turn it off immediately after my main psu turns off or what ???
