Default Your RIG: Where should your money go?

I have a question and I am curious what kind of responses there might be ...

Suppose you are building a rig and you have an allocated budget. And you need to prioritize how much money you will spend on your components. Now we all know you can easily spend more on a MOBO than a CPU, or spend more on a CASE than a GPU.

So here's the question: What do you think the best ranking for buying your components for your rig should be? What components do you think you should allocate the most money for, and maybe just how much of a percentage of your budget do you think should be allocated for each component?

For example - should more money be spent for a PSU than a CPU? Should you get a midrange GPU and get a high-end CPU?

I realize different rigs can be used for different purposes, but let us assume you're building a gaming rig. Where should your hard earned money go?

I think the most important parts for a gaming rig are 1)Good motherboard, 2) Good PSU, 3)Good GPU, 4) Good quantity/quality RAM 5)CPU, in that order.

Interesting. Especially interesting is you place the CPU last. Thx.

PS: You don't mention the monitor. Clearly important component as well. heh!

You can get extremely cheap monitors these days : you probably heard of the Dell 19" LCD for 190$ i think
After reading up on everything, I would say GPU then CPU then RAM then PSU then Mobo

CPU doesn't make a huge difference in gaming anymore, for example, someone with an X2-5000 isn't going to notice a massive difference in gaming over my X2-3800 BUT you'll notice a massive difference with an X1950 then you would a Geforce 6600GT

CPUs have little actual affect on gaming performance when the games are played at a decent resolution. (1280 x 1024 or higher)

Still, for gaming, where would you rather spend your cash, CPU or GPU?

Interesting. Same ranking as Namrac's but way different from def.momo. It's good to see tho that PSU ranks high as it should. Surprising is that RAM ranks higher than CPU for you both...
