Default Does this sound like a PSU problem??

So I'm having several problems with a recent comp I built (stats below). I am a bit noobish so don't discount fairly obvious fixes if you plan on suggesting one, but I think it might be a power supply issue (possibly one of several problems, not too sure).

First: Can't hook up my second WD 250GB SATA hd without the computer failing to boot. Practically threw the comp across the room before I figured out that was what was causing the problem =)

Second: Hideous lag with humdrum game like Guild Wars. Video quality turned all the way down and still jumping around the screen. I know the video card is probably sucking up a lot of juice and the power supply is dual 12V rail so not sure if by opting for efficiency I sacrificed performance. I would think that with this video card/CPU/RAM that I wouldn't be having graphics/performance issues (assuming those three are in working order, which I haven't assessed because I don't really know how) which is another reason I suspect the PSU.

Any advice is much appreciated!

It looks like it is a PSU problem

Do you have access to a multimeter?

Well the only way to know for sure is to use a multimeter but from your post I think it's safe to say it is the PSU

Oh, other note, I RMA'd the same power supply once already for basically the same problem, thinking the original was defective. Sounds like rather than RMA'ing (not really an option anyway at this late stage) I should just get a better PSU. Someone on another post suggested this one, any reason this shouldn't work?

You can't go wrong with PCP&C, they're one of the most reliable PSUs on the market
