After an electrical blackout I had today, one of my pcs started randomally restarting itself.
__________________However, This doesn't happen immediately. I can log into windows and I seem very stable. But eventually after a few minutes(or more) the PC just reboots. I'm not sure this is PSU related, but I was wondering if you have any ideas as to why this is happening? Thank you for your assistance. Best Regards, Guy.

Sounds PSU related to me. If you have another one to swap it out with, try it.

That's almost surely power-related. I don't think anything could be fried. The PSU is the only thing in the computer that's probably damaged (if it is) if you can get into Windows with no problems.

It's possible that the surge could have corrupted the CMOS....
I would try a BIOS flash to see if that could provide renewed stability. Also run a Scandisk on your drives as the surge might have caused them to skip. Check for errors and the usual.

Thanks guys.

yeah its most likely a psu problem if u can get into windows, although maybe your power sockets are damaged? try switching the plug into another socket that might work, if that doesnt work id test the pc with another psu, as thats most likely the problem

Going Broke Overclocking
![]() |
This issue in it self is why I use a battery backup. so many brown and black ouths in my local grid you wouldn't believe. Something wacko around here for sure. You not only get great surge protection but a clean stable powe in to the PS!
Surge strip, that multi connection adapter you plug into the wall to protect your PC and multiple outlets. A BIOS clearing or possible a reflash may correct your issues. Also check all power connections to the MB and periphials.
