The ATX_12v connector is a little 4 pin square connector. on my mobo there's a plug for it near the CPU socket.

Yeah. That's to give extra power to the board.

If you don't have it in, chances are the rig won't work properly, if at all.

Lol no worries, good job I thought of that.. lol.

Much better than taking it all out of the case!

I think if you'd had the speaker plugged in you'd have got a beep code which indicates a power problem anyway.

Hehe nice, 420W is a good amount of power, in fact 300W is fine for a normal 1 HDD / 2 CD ROM system you won't be doing any modifications to.
