Question Ups?

I just purchased a new APC RS800 I live in an old house with old wiring. The check building wiring fault light is on and in the installation instructions they give three reasons for this #1 open or high resistance ground, #2 hot or neutral polarity reversed, #3 overloaded neutral circuit. Goes on to say improper building wiring will not prevent the unit from operating, but it will limit it’s protection cabability.I have a few questions I hope someone with more knowledge on this than me can answer.

#1 Will my equipment be protected?

#2 Is there anything I can do to fix this short of asking my landlord to update his wiring?

#3 When they say it will limit the protection capability how limited will it be?
