Default how do i know if the random reboot is due to...??

... is due to my psu not being powerful enough (which i doubt)

when it happened, i was encoding an AVI file to DVD while browsing the web and downloading with utorrent

can it be the PSU??

It could be but most likely its your voltage to the memory. I had that issue as well and it was wrong timings and voltage on my ram.

I guess you can test the power supply but i have never done that. I really dont think it is though. You could have bad memory modules.

Download memtest and test the memory.

That *might* be the issue. Some chipsets set the RAM settings not correctly (most notably the P965), and you'll need to go manually into the BIOS to set it all good (timings and voltage). I don't know if this applies to the 680i board you have, but you should check it out. Thus, get into BIOS, set the vcore at the manufacturer recommended level, and ditto for the timings.

That is also very true. My timings were so messed up it was causing my stability issues.

They were competely wrong on auto. I had to change them manually.

anyway, i've decided to change de PSU anyway. i'm getting the OCZ 700w gamexstream.

maybe i won't have a gain in performance, but at least, cable management will be better.

and my second rig will have a decent PSU (the phantom of course)
