Default New power supply installation problems.

My Antec Smartpower died so I bought a FSP to replace it. I took out the old one and installed the new one in short order. I am almost certain that I have everything plugged in properly other than this strange tiny 4 pin connector that doubles as the 5v and 12v to the motherboard. My old PSU had no such thing just a 3 pin the plugged in properly to the 3 pin on the motherboard. When I plugged in the red light on the motherboard is on. When I push the power button the lights on my DVD drives flash and then nothing (no beep codes). I have it on 115 of course. This is really starting to tick me off so any help would be greatly appreciated.

My new one is this one

I think I may have just found the problem actually. What I assumed was a dual purpose 3 and 4 pin connector for the motherboard seems to be their floppy connector. What exactly does that tiny 3 pin connection on the motherboard of socket 754 systems do? As I now have nothing that can plug into it.

If you are talking of the small connectors (one above the ram slots and one under the CPU socket), those would be fan connectors. If your computer doesn't boot it's because either your 4pin or 24pin plugs aren't in correctly. Make sure they were "clicked" when you installed them. If you remove them, don't forget to lift the safety!

Both the 24 pin and 4 pin are plugged in all the way. I was fairly certain that both of the tiny ones were for fans but not positive. Still no luck. I hate undiagnosed computer problems.

If your CMOS battery isn't blocked by a PCI card you could try taking it out to reset it... Note*** you will lose your bios settings. You will have to take the electricity out of the board first (switch off PSU then pres the power button on case) Just take the battery out for ~20 secs.

Tell me if you get any results
