Default Opinion:Should I upgrade my PSU?

Hi Guys,

I know this seems to be a regular question but anyway.

I have noticed since upgrading from the 6800GT to the 8800GTS that the PSU is generating considerably more heat suggesting a far greater current draw from my hardware.

I have noticed no difference in voltage fluctuation or accuracy at idle or load but Im just concerned that I maybe pushing this PSU a little hard.

I know that 28A on a single rail is prob at the limit of ability to power my system so I am looking for a general consensus on what I should do.

If I was to replace it I would like another single railed PSU since this seems to be the norm now (over multiple rails) what Amperage and wattage should I look at and suggestions on models

Any comments or suggestions?

Thanks!

Thanks guys, Was thinking about say the SeaSonic M12 range or the Corsair HX620.

Budget is not really too much of an issue (well within reason of course) PSU's are something ive always highly rated as a "non-skimp" item

EDIT: oh its actually 28A Still a bit low I feel.

Yeah I saw these but did not really know what to make of them. I was thinking that since I need a PSU (and a motherboard) to build a second PC from the parts I have in the house this could be an Ideal opportunity to sort out both problems.

The second PC will be just a single core CPU/1GB of BH-5/6800GT and other bits and pieces. My current PSU had no issues runningt his hardware before.

The Corsair 620W is the finest PSU I have ever tested!

Up to 8800GTS SLI: Corsair 620W or Seasonic M12 700W

Up to 8800GTX SLI: PC P&C 750W Quad or Silverstone DA750 or OP750 750W

R600 CF: PC P&C 1KW-SR or Silverstone OP1000 1000W

For my money the Corsair 620W, but the Seasonic 700W is also a great PSU!

There are no bad choices here.
