Default PSU on its way out? EDIT: Got a new PSU

Well, this started happening a few days ago. I went to turn my computer on and everything went on for a second and then went off. I pushed the power button again, and nothing happened. So I flipped the switch to off on the back of my PSU, then let it sit for a sec, then flipped it back on and turn my computer on. Everything was fine. Later that day I went to turn my computer on and the same thing happened. Pushed the power button, all the fans lit up and started spinning and then went dead after a split second. So, I did the same thing, turned the PSU switch off, and then I checked all the connections turned the power strip off, unplugged everything and plugged everything back in. Then it turned on just fine.
However, Just a few minutes ago, I went to turn it on and same thing happened...
My guess is it's the PSU. I've had it for just over 2 years. It came with my case (X-Superalien). 500 watt.
Is it time I started looking for a new PSU??

I would have started looking for a new PSU the day I got the case... It does sound like a PSU issue.

It is definitely the PSU! I have had that problem before. My PSU couldn't handle my hard disk anymore (300w). I switched to a 250w psu and I have my old rig running.

Nothing is ever definite.... it is probable though.

A hard disk? Those take only like 4w from the 12v and 8w from the 5v line.

lol I wish I would have had the extra money.

Right now I'm just hoping this one will last me at least a little while longer. I'm hoping I can get a new case and PSU this summer.

I'm planning on getting an Antec Case.

Any suggestions on a new psu, so i can start saving for one??

I would save up faster. I would recommend you NOT use your PC until you get a new PSU. If your PSU is dying, you definitely don't want to use it anymore. Getting a new PSU now is better than getting a new system after your PSU kills everything.

1. What is your budget?
2. DO NOT! And again, DO NOT! Use a PSU that comes win a Case + PSU combo. They will surely die out in a few months or fry your computer.

What PSU do you suggest I get?
My budget is arounf $100 if i can keep it around there and still get a decent psu. I still owe my dad about $3000 for my car... And i'm only working at fast food...
