Question Should the PSU work even though there is no Motherboard?

I got every component for my new build now, just missing the monitor and the motherboard.

I just instaled the PSU (Seasonic S-12 600W), and I wanted to test my LED fans. It doesn't work though... Do I need a motherboard to do this?

Thank you. So what you are saying is that if I do't jump it, then it won't start up, even though it's fine?

It's brand new, I just want to know if it's supposed to ower up my fans by itself when I don't have a motherboard.

Correct the PSU needs a signal from the Mobo to start. Jump it on and you can test your fans.

This is my first build, and I had heard from others that it's supposed to start up without a motherboard. When it didn't I kind of panicked :P

Thanks a lot, I feel so much better now

The PSU needs to be connected to a motherboard for it to start

OR

Jump the green wire/pin to a black (ground) wire/pin.
