I have a friend that is running a DVD drive monito speakers extracooling you know things for gamming and the most important video card. Well he has an ATI9800PRO and it said it requires at least 300W power supply. He has 250W but his computer runs good no one problem at all. What we wanna know if that if we get like a GeForce6800Ultra or a ATI800PRO or w/e those new card name are would run good with that power supply. His PC model its a 6410NX.

Get another psu. The stability of the rails will be magorly hurt.
The amount of juice that thing draws will put a great strain on his psu. It will lessin the posible oc on this gpu and cpu too. I have heard of cards being permantly dammaged because they were undervolted.

I seriously doubt that he will be able to run either of those two cards. I belive the 9800Pro, cause that doesn't seem to take a lot of power. But, not the others. If it did run you would prolly see a crappy performance drop.

O ya and when the power supply does not meet the card requirements does it give you less performance? Like less FPS on games or something?

Yes, the lack of power to the card will give you crappy performance, and possibly could damage your card or other components of your system. You're PSU should be alright at 400W. As long as you don't have to many things (such as pumps, lights, heavy cooling and overclocking) running at the same time that could drain your power. As for a reccomendation, how much money are you looking at spending. $50...$100?

Sorry for being slow. How 'bout this: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...182-008&depa=0
Rosewill is not bad, and it has stable Rails and enough power for your system.
