I know questions of the 8-pin motherboard connection are common, and the general consensus is that a 4-pin will work fine as long as the video cards have there own power and whatnot, but I feel like being stubborn. My PSU does not have an 8-pin plug, but it does have 2 6-pin pci-e plugs, which my 7600GT does not need. My question is, would I be able to make an adapter that consolidates the 4 +12v wires for pci-e into 1 8-pin plug for the motherboard. All of my electrical knowledge says that it should work fine, as long as I got the pinout correct (not a problem). I ask because I am planning to go SLi soon, and don't want to risk damaging the 7600GT's by under-powering them.
If anyone knows of a pre-made adapter for 2 pci-e to 1 8-pin, please share. I have seen 1 pci-e to 8-pin, but that means 1 +12v is not accounted for. Or using the 4-pin and one pci-e would work. Also, if someone could help direct me as to where to acquire 8 and 6 pin connectors that would be a big help. Thanks.

Just a thought, I've also got an extra PSU with a 4-pin, and puts out 15A on the 12v rail, should I use that instead of the pci-e?
