Default Noo! my worst nightmare!

Hello, i was fixing my 25cm fan and i connected it to the wrong connector so then the computer turned of, now it wont turn on! I am so scared!
Is it only the psu that has been fried or the whole computer? The psu starts when not connected to the mobo but not when connected to the mobo. Just got the mobo a few weeks ago :'(

Please try to help me :/

You connect it onto the MOBO or onto the PSU?

What's the wattage rating for the fan?

Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this.

I believe Watts=V*A so 12*.3A=3.6Watts

Did you plug in the fan while the computer was powered on?

Ok, I was looking for the Amps... and btw, Power (wattage) is Voltage * Amps so the fan is running at 3.6 W.

Anyway, I don't see why your Mobo would get hurt at all if you weren't running throught it, and I don't see why the PSU would be hurt at all if it was only a .3A device.

Is everything in the case?

Well i did a little "modding" on it, since i want to use my fan controller and not the one that came with the fan i cut the cord to the psu molex and put it in the fan controller, but there is anyother connector on the fan, a 3pin fan connector, by mistake i put that in another cord that went into the fan controller.. It should have went into the fan controller that came with the fan..

I know i dont make much sense but i try

I hate to sound like a ass but you know your supposed to turn your whole sytem off and unplug it, then let it sit for 5 min before you go hooking up connectors and stuff. If you have a multimeter check your power wires from your PS to see if their putting out voltage. if your still getting power from your PS then your MB is fried, call up wherever you got it from and lie, then RMA it. I just hope your thermal overload on your MB protected your CPU, mem, and GPUs.

Ok... So this is the two connectors on the fan, the left is the one that should go into the fan controller, the one on the right is the one that should go into the fan controller that came with the fan.

This is the left one that goes into the fan controller
http://www.freewebs.com/jokigizmondo/ABCD0002.JPG

This is the fan controller that came with the fan
http://www.freewebs.com/jokigizmondo/ABCD0003.JPG

that is how it was suppose to be, the 3pin fan connector connected to the fan connector that came with the fan
http://www.freewebs.com/jokigizmondo/ABCD0004.JPG

This is how i did it by mistake. A 3pin connector into the zalman controller (the fan was already connected to the zalman controller in another slot)
http://www.freewebs.com/jokigizmondo/ABCD0005.JPG

I hope that made thing more clear..

@kev012in
Well, i know thats the way you are suppose to do it but i connect and disconnect fans all the time with the zalman controller with my computer running.
