I don't see an SLI certified on the 550VX =T. Seems if HX is more for high performance and gaming.

Get the HX and don't look back!

That's a $30 difference or 28% premium for modular cables. Both PSU are excellent. The HX is just built by Seasonic and the VX is CWT.

if you do want the hx520 get it at zzf for only $108.00 and FREE SHIPPING, http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=373100

Just orederd me one of these last night. noot to mention at that price it takes away the premium for the modular cabling DuckieHo was talking about.

zipzoomfly has the vx550 for $88.90 shipped so the hx520 is $20 more. Also the 550 has more potential on the +3v, +5v and (slightly) on 12v rails. This makes the 550 more flexible depending on your rigs load. Reviews out there also have the vx550 slightly higher efficient, especially at light loads, which a computer is at most of the time. I really do like the modular though... damn, I'm torn..

Seasonics are GREAT units but the vx550 is a better value. ZipZoomFly just got the vx550 back in stock for $88.90, free shipping AND $20 MIR. If you must have modular than absolutely nothing wrong with the hx520 it's just been shown that the vx550 is just as well if not better built, better regulation and even slightly higher efficiency.

vx550 review:

hx520 review:

After reading these and many other reviews, you simply can't go wrong with either unit. But as long as you really don't need modular, the vx550 is slightly better in every way and $20 less... PLUS a $20 MIR right now at ZipZoomFly. After WEEKS of research I JUST ordered one. Hope this helps!

EDIT: See jonny's post above. He is the man behind the reviews I linked to above, noted among many as the best on the web for PSU's. Although he has plenty of help running his site and doing reviews too, he would be the one man to listen to!

Seasonic > Channel Well? Not necessarily. Used to be Seasonic had a niche for high efficiency/lower noise, but CWT has beat them at that game and makes a very solid unit.

That's where I got mine. One question though... on the REBATE form it says:

"Cut out and enclose the original UPC code located on the back side of the paper insert."

Did you get a paper insert?? Cuz I didn't...

I DO have a UPC code on the back of the box though, is that what they're referring to?

One thing that may sway your decision lies in the PCI-E power connections. The 550 has a 6 pin and a 6+2 pin for the newer 8 pin GPU's. As far as I can tell, the 520 only has two 6 pin PCI-E connectors. That's what pushed it over the edge for me. I'll be picking up the 550VX within the hour.

550VX:
The review here speaks for itself:

In terms of quality and performance, it doesn't leave anything to desired compared with the HX series. The lack of ripple, the voltage regulation and the efficiency are nothing short of phenomenal.
