Duckie and Rocker - yes, there is a small (1") slotted vent on the other side ... BUT, I have a 120mm fan pushing air straight across the case into the PSU, add to that the problem I'm experiencing is immediately at boot up on a cold system and has been there since day one. I don't believe it is a thermal issue.

Pheatton - I have not read any issues on ATI cards, just the 8800GTX specifically (includes Superclocked version). I have read that the 8800 Ultra and GTS version of the cards are fine with this PSU.

Antec and UPS sent me RMA info and expect to pick up the PSU in 1-2 days. I responded with comments to the trouble ticket that stated that I am expecting them to send me a new unit before I tear my machine apart to pack mine up. Also requested written confirmation that the new PSU WILL solve the problem, before I do anything. I'm not trying to be a jerk at all, it took a LOT of time (4+ hours) to get the cable management just right so the side panel would go on correctly and sit flat. I want to replace this PSU once and be sure it works the first time. Besides the risk of damage in handling the mobo, removing, then replacing the HSF...yadda, yadda. I'll post their response.

My hidden spaghetti:

Good news from Antec:

10-23-2007 14:26 Yes we have a fixed version of the TPQ-850 to solve the issue with the 8800GTX video card. You will receive an email shortly from our RMA department with instructions about the UPS call tag pickup. Thanks, Kyle Odom Antec Customer Support

They had a CSS tourney here and were always looking for extra folks to fillin the teams. They were also giving away a bunch of QX6850 processors too, just for attending!!! Go give it a try.

PSU update: Antec TPQ-850 is officially RMA'd and on its way back to Antec. Supposedly a replacement is being sent out tomorrow.

I called Antec yesterday asking for a status on my replacement PSU and they told me they hadn't shipped it yet!

The CS guy told me to call the RMA dept and ask for (but don't expect) an expidited shipment. I was transferred to voicemail and left a message with my phone # and 24 hours later I got nada, zip, zero. Not a phone call, no email, nothing.

I just went to look at my trouble ticket only to find out that it is CLOSED! Now I'm mad.

Run,

Just like you I have just purchased a shiny new 8800 GT card and tried to power it with a Quattro 850 and voila... not enough power.

So here I sit debating what to do and have sent a ticket into the store I bought it from and sent a ticket into antec as well.

I'm Canadian so I hope I don't end up having to fork out more money for a better power supply.

Keep us updated.
