When the multi rails PSU starts, it doesn’t only produce power to 12v but also 3.3v, 5v and others. Name brand PSU usually has a very clear label and won’t confuse customers . It tells us how the power gets distributed. For example, OCZ GameXStream 700w. It has 4 of 12 rails with each has 18A. If we added them up, it will be 72A and total power will be 72x12=864w but this is a 700w PSU. From its label, we know 155w goes to 3.3v and 5v, 20w goes to others and only 525w(680-155) goes to 12v. So, it has about total 44A (-4/5%) on 12 rails for this PSU.

![]() I understand about the wattage split between the three different rails ect but how did you get 44A total? Excuse my ignorance.

Yeah I agree a Corsair VX450w would handle that system fine.

Get a E6750 instead of the E6600, its better and cheaper. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115029 and swap the 320mb 8800GTS with HD 3850 512mb, also cheaper and better. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...D+3850&x=0&y=0 http://www.tomshardware.com/2008/01/...ics/page3.html The HD 3850 is the better price/performance card imo and also consumes less power. Your budget will look better.

I really wouldn't recommend that PSU, if you want to OC you're looking at around 330W load usage under normal conditions, with everything at stock you're looking at 270-300W under load. Now take into account that your 400W PSU doesn't actually output 400W, and considering its a case psu we're looking at a maximum output of 320W, so even at stock your system is going to be unstable, because all it takes is for the PSU to drop down to 70% efficiency for a second, which is 280W and you're system crashes.
Oh and did I mention its a case psu?!?!?

First off, E6750 is DUAL core, E6600 is QUAD core. More = better? Yes(Verify pl0x) and can anyone else verify that the ati card is better? I like nVidia better in general. And even though you guys were talking about power a lot, PSU's are definately my weak point, so, my question is Will the XCLIO support the build?

Did you already buy the E6600? Because If I were you, I would get an E6750 and save myself ~$50 and get a better chip.
And no, the E6600 is not a quad core. The Q6600 is a quad core. And I believe that that ATi card is better as well.
