Your system may not put enough load on the PSU to have it run as efficently. Therefore you would be spending more money in upfront costs and more money in electical usage for no PSU performance improvement. In addition, it is very unlikely the additional power will ever be used.

Yeah, I already brought up the efficiency bit. I wouldn't call diminished noise a lack of performance improvement, though... Also, the X3 is more efficient than the Turbo-cool in general. We've already established that it isn't the need for more power that is driving this purchase.

Right. Saying a PSU is less efficient at lower loads is a relative argument.

It is less efficient at lower loads than the same PSU at higher loads.

But even at lower loads, it may be more efficient than many other units on the market.
