I currently have my eyes on the PC Power & Cooling S610EPS 610W @ 40°C (670W peak), which is $119.99 after shipping (free shipping). I'm liking it a lot, and here are some reasons why:

1. My budget for a PSU is now $159.58 after shipping. (not a penny higher).
2. It has one 12v rail @49A
3. It has an Active PFC and over voltage protection
4. It is 80 Plus Certified
5. It's made by PC Power & Cooling
6. All the cables are sleeved.
7. It has everything I need, plus a bit of headroom for the future.
8. Plus, it's SLI Certified just in case.

So, I need everyone to educate me. Is there anything wrong with my choice? This feels like an extremely good PSU, and like there's nothing wrong with it at all.

I do have one specific question about it: What does "610w Continuous (670w peak)" mean?

Amazing psu. It just means that it can sustain 610w, but can get up to 670w.

It means exactly what it sounds like. Its rated to put out 610w all the time, and up to 670w if it needs too. But, not constantly.

As for my budget, that budget is "after shipping". It can't cost that much after shipping. But it looks like there's no PSU that I'd ever need for even $140 plus!

PC Power & Cooling 610 is a good PSU. This $114 Corsair 620HX is also very good.

I can say the pc p&c 610 is a great psu. Go for it. Thats a good price I paid like $160 for mine last year.

APFC isn't necessary in the US and is only required in the EU. That said, any "quality" PSU has APFC. As for OVP: Only really crappy PSU's like Deer and Powmax don't have OVP.

Being a 610W I hope it would be SLI certified for something! (probably 7x cards, but it's still enough power to run a pair of 8800's.)

Continuous means you can put a sustained 610W load on the unit and it will hold up. Peak means you can hit it suddenly with a 670W load, but that load can't last more than a couple seconds or the PSU will overheat, shutdown, shorten MTBF, etc.

The Silencer is a good choice. Not the best value, but you won't be disappointed except for that it's not the quietest 600W+ PSU on the market. Those 80MM fans can really whir!

Read the page. Buy.com has FREE SHIPPING. So even after shipping, the Silencer 750W is cheaper than your 610W. I'd totally take the 750W over the 610W at those prices. Otherwise, you're just throwing money away.

Just as good of a choice AND LESS MONEY! Here you have the SAME Seasonic base that PCP&C uses for their Silencer, better capacitors, quieter fan, modular interface.... THAT'S the deal right there.
