Default Question about warranty

Ok so about 2 1/2 years ago I built my computer and bought an Ultra 600 Watt PSU. Well, about a half a year ago or so I noticed the intake fan on the inside part of the PSU was broken and I saw no easy way to replace it (if it's even possible). I haven't had any problems with it thus far, but there are times when it makes a weird kind of noise that sounds just kinda like it's switching gears, or powering down, but it never shuts off or anything. The noise doesn't really sound like it's coming from a fan, but maybe its just the sound of that broken fan trying to kick back in? I know it isn't the noise from the fan just speeding up to cool the PSU down more. I've tried giving it a little boost to get the fan going, and I can tell it has some sort of power going to it, but it wont spin more than 3 seconds.

Anyways, my question is do you think I'd be wasting my time trying to get Ultra to exchange it for a new one? And do you think they would even do that given that the PSU has worked flawlessly thus far. I know they have 3 year warranties, and lifetime warranties if you register your product online. The problem is I don't remember if I ever registered it. Should I just try registering it again to make sure and wait and see if it ever dies and just RMA it when/if that happens?

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance.

Register it and RMA it. If it's broken, you have all right to get it replaced.

Yup I'd try to RMA that for sure. Ultra isn't known for quality, and I'm a bit surprised it didn't give u any problems.

Yea, I dunno, it has worked really good so far, even with only one of the 80mm fans in it running for a while. I'm going to e-mail and see about the RMA.

Try to keep it short and sweet. Just say, "My Ultra PSU's internal intake fan is broken and I need an RMA to replace the unit."

A lot of times if a support email came in to the queue that reads like your post reads, it gets bumped down the queue and then looked under greater scutiny once it is read (because they could assume there's a "gotcha" in the RMA request somewhere if it takes three paragraphs to explain the problem).

Even if you didn't register it, you're under warranty. Just find the receipt (even if it's an email from the vendor). On another forum I heard of a guy getting an X-Pro in exchange for an X-Finity so keep your fingers crossed.

Oh yeah.. goodness knows they ALL fail. I think they have something like a 99% failure rate, right?
