Not quite the catastrophic failure I was expecting. By chance I had woken up at 3:30 when 5 minutes later my computer turned itself on and started giving off that damned burned electronics smell. Now, I've had power supplies fail on me before, but never while the computer was turned off. It leaves me a bit leery about leaving my stuff plugged in while I'm away.
Anyway, guess that means I'm in the market for a new one. What's good these days in the 100-120 range? Modular would be highly preferred.

a little above your price range but 100% modular. no offense but the one posted above has non modular 24 pin (usually no problem) but I also see the dreaded pci-e wires hiding in there, and they may be the ones you dont need (8's or 6's depending on your rig). That kinda stuff really ticks me off, when they say "modular".

Buy.com is cheaper most of the time for PSUs.

Seconded on the Corsair, $115 shipped AR. A couple more good ones would be the Xigmatek 650 for $120 shipped and the Zalman 600 for $117 shipped. All of those are very nice PSUs and the Zalman is probably the quietest one if that was important but it also has the least power available on the 12V rail (42A for the Zalman and ~52A for the other two, and that is a fairly big difference).

. It's a fairly good PSU (made by Seasonic, but not up to the same level as the Seasonic made Corsair). But the other PSUs I listed are a few bucks cheaper and are better PSUs.

Was gonna go with the DA650, but then I found this for $15 cheaper.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817379006 Can anyone vouch for it? ![]()
