Default APC Back-UPS XS900

Just acquired this battery backup since my last APC battery backup stopped working on me...plus it wasn't powerful enough for my computer anyhow...

Anyways, it's all hooked up and working just fine, except the APC UPS Service will not start. I've tried manually starting it within services.msc (running Windows XP), reinstalling PowerChute Personal Edition, and I've pored over APC's knowledgebase and forums, but nothing turns up.

I am under the impression I need the APC UPS Service to be started, but I can't figure out how. When I try to run it from services.msc, I get the following error:

Code:
Could not start the APC UPS Service service on Local Computer

Error 193: 0xc1
Googling hasn't turned up much of anything either. I'm unable to run a self-test because the service isn't working.

The 'Uninterruptible Power Supply' service is enabled in the services.msc panel. That's not the issue. I'm trying to get the APC UPS Service to run, and it won't. It doesn't matter if the Uninterruptible Power Supply service is started or stopped, it still gives the same error message.
