Hello guys,
There's this project that I'm working on, I wanna power a µATX 60w rig with a laptop power supply. First of all, is it possible? The laptop plug is capable of 75W, but it delivers 24V DC. Would it be some kind of circuitry (that I can scavenge form a laptop for example) that converts my +24VDC into whatever is needed on a standard 24 pin ATX plug? I can do the wiring myself, I would just want to know if there is a way to do it as I lack the skills to design such a card. In my project space is the one and only problem, I need a diminutive PSU (far smaller than the SFF stuff) to power the rig. I have modded an ATX PSU to the size of two cigarette packs stiched together, but it's not enough, therefore the laptop plug idea. Do you know of how coud this be done? I've googled, but I may miss the proper words 'cause there's nothing showing up. Thanks and reps+ to any helper (as usual). D.

I don't think it would be too easy to make something. You are probably looking for something like this: http://www.mini-box.com/picoPSU-120-power-kit. They've got a bunch of types to choose from and a few that should work with your 24V laptop charger like this one: http://www.mini-box.com/PicoPSU-80-W...=8&category=13

http://www.icp-epia.co.uk/index.php?...&productId=210 http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_1781.html Just a few UK based sites I found. These guys will ship anywhere, but to Grenoble (zip 38094?) would be like $80 for the PSU. http://store.mp3car.com/

Thanks a lot guys, I frankly never thought that there are such pico-atx PSUs, as for the part that you can power a PS from the car's liter... that's really cool.
Grenoble is 38xxx , replace the x-es with anything you like. Anyhow, now sine I know what I'm searching I can add up another thing to the shopping list next time I'm in the U.K. ![]() Reps+ and many thanks, D.
