Default New Rig PSU Sufficiency

Hey, OCN
I'm planning to upgrade my ancient hp comp that I recieved from a caveman and swap some things from my current rig.

Firstly, the new HP Comp will have
It will have E8400
one 8800 GTS
2 X 1 GB G.Skill 1066
DFI LP DK P35-T2RS
One 250GB HD 32MB Cache
One optical CD/DVD drive

Will 450W Corsair be enough?

Secondly, the current rig will have this
Q6600
One HD 4850
2 X 2 GB G.SKill 1000
EVGA 750i
One 250GB HD 32mb Cache
One optical CD/DVD drive
One floppy disk drive

Will 550W Corsair be enough?

Of course, I'm planning to OC my Q6600 to 3.6 and E8400 to around 3.8

For the first rig you are fine as long as the PSU has a half decent 12V rail amperage. The second I'm not sure because of the consumption of the 4850 but I think you should be fine.

The E8400 with all you listed and a guestimated OC of 3800 @ 1.4 volts puts you needing .... 292 watts

Q6600 @ 3.6 with 1.45 volts (guessing) but there is no listing for a 4850 (so I used a 3870 x2 instead) and it lists 442 watts

The 550W Corsair should be enough but here is the what if...

Since us OCers are demanding of our system, the higher one pushes the PS the closer you get to the 70 or 80+ load percentage and that is when PS stable power quality drops off dependent on the quality of the PS.70% @ load is a common standard, the high end PSs usually have an 80% or 80+% rating.

BTW, the "Watt" rating in general is rather misleading.

The brand for the my two PS are Corsair. I think it will give enough fuel for both right when OC?
