Smile [PSU] Corsair HX 620W Question

Corsair HX 620w Modular PSU

Recommended?

I hear modular PSU's have a high level of instability, as in things dying due to the connectors - Is this true? Or should i invest in one

Cheers

^^

Modular power supply's have over time become way more efficient. They still haven't caught up to non-modular, but it isn't enough to worry about.

That power supply you linked to is fantastic, and is definitely recommended.

Yeah, that's a good one. I think Robilar ran two 8800GTS 512s off of it. Very good power supply for the money.

Yep, it's a very highly rated PSU.... I have one as well and wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

I have had nothing but great experience with mine. I personally feel the wires are a little stiff but that's nothing a hair drier wont fix. seriously that's my only complaint on the unit.

cool, quiet and not a UFO (no bloody LED's thank goodness)

BS. Modular and efficiency have NOTHING to do with each other... unless you count the marginal voltage drop due to the connectors. Being marginal, it doesn't really matter.

Modular and non-modular perform the same.

The 620HX is a Seasonic built PSU. They are known for their high-quality and low noise PSUs.

My post was based off of a guide I read a little while ago written by Chozart. If I remember correctly, he stated that modular power supplies are less efficient.

In any case, Listen to Duckie, he's probably correct. It's a great power supply.

I guess I must have read it elsewhere. I was incorrect. Listen to Duckie.

Cheers guys, i'll get it - thanks for the help

And hairdryer to make the wires more flexible during wire management, obviously i'm not going to heat them up massively, but is this safe to do?
