Default ANTEC & PC POWER & COOLING PSUs

May i know if i were to assemble a new computer, with the following components.
1. CPU - Q6600
2. MOTHERBOARD - ASUS P5Q PREMIUM or GIGABYTE EP45-DS3R
3. RAM - T.B.C
4. GRAPHICS CARD - T.B.C

As i am more inclined to perform graphics intense applications, for example; 3D STUDIO MAX, AUTODESK INVENTOR 2009. AUTOCAD 2009, ADOBE CS3 PHOTOSHOP, ILLUSTRATOR etc.

After looking around, i have found that ANTEC TRUPOWER SERIES and PC & POWER COOLING PSUs work best for stability and unprecedented recognition for churning quality PSUs, thus i am seeking the suggestion for going ahead with the above 2 PSUs. Or there might be PSUs besides them worth taking a second look?

Ahhh... which models? Quality and performance vary based on model. i.e. A good manufactor can make a bad line.

The Antec TruPower series are ok to good... not great or best.

Better yet, what is your price range?

Default Budget >$200

I am looking at ANTEC TRUPOWER 650W and PC & POWER COOLING 610W PSUs. But base on my thrifty budget, would you recommend any other PUS. If there's a need, i would expand my budget to cater for 'good to great' PSUs.

Both are good with the Truepower 650 being decent, but the Silencer is definitely the better of the two. I don't know much about the Singapore PSU market, what other brands are available?

PC Power & Cooling is your best bet. (One of the better PSU companies out there) They make very efficient and quality power supplies...

I wouldn't quality them as very efficient, they are merely average at todays standards. They are quality though.

How much of a price difference is there between the Antec and Silencer?

Those stress only CPU so no need for hot running power hogging graphic card if you don't also play games... which are in fact worse power consumers than CPU.
(if you haven't bought already I would change CPU to faster and less power consuming Q9300)

What shinji2k said you apparently live in Singapore which is warm country so instead of "biggest available PSU" I would get one powerful enough high quality PSU and make sure case has PSU on bottom.

Antec is PSU brand, not real manufacturer.
SmartPowers (yeah, right) and old TruePowers (not Trio) were made by CWT who equipped them with lovely Chinese Fuhjjyu capacitors making them time bombs. (new meaning for words "firing up PC" when pushing power button blows PSU)
Currently most Antec PSUs are made by Seasonic.

I think best way to describe difference is that TruePower Trio + other Seasonic made Antecs are Seasonic's "low" end (still much better than generic/mediocre PSUs) products and PC P&C Silencer (+Corsair HXs/VX450/TX650, Seasonic S12E+/M12) belong to Seasonic's high end production.

Correction: A manufactor/rebrander with a good name can sell a bad line.

Was trying to keep the point simple.

I heard that Delta is starting to produce some of Antec's EarthWatts line now.

I prefer the Corsair or PC P&C, since I have had both I can vouch for them. Stay away from Cooler Master, had a 600w psu die on me within 6 months.
