Instead of opening your PSU, would it be possible just connect all the black wires on the molex connecters together, and the yellow wires on the molex connecters together and have a TEC PSU?

Just seems a little messy and dangerous. Doing electrical work I've taken my share of 110v shocks- probably your share too, and I know it isn't gonna kill you. But do I feel like seeing if my rig can take a jolt and survive- hell no. I've got too much time and money invested in a hobby that I love and I don't want to see it go up in smoke to save what? 50 bucks?

Unplug the PSU but don't disconnect it from your motherboard yet. Press the power button several times to get rid of the extra juice. You'll hear the system try to start up after the first few times but once it stops, you're safe to go.
