Ok guys, I'm looking at this power supply which I found for dirt cheap and with a $40 mail in rebate. Is it worth taking a chance with OR just wait for the HX1000W for $200. 950W for $75 after MIR or Corsair "King of power supplies" HX1000W for $200 after MIR? Does anyone even have this coolmax psu?

It's showing for me on the link you provided:
Original Price: $219.99 You Save: $50.00 $169.99 ($149.99 after $20.00 Mail-In Rebate So after instant savings and $20 MIR, $149. Am I missing something? If thats the case I would spend the $50 and go for the Corsair HX1000W...

Ohh...I see
![]() Well, I just read a couple a reviews from different sites. It came back pretty conclusive. It's seems rather good for being a relatively new brand. I would say go for it, especially for $75...you can't go wrong

Why not something like this? Zalman 850w- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Ltd-_-17379007 You can crossfire two 4870's; its a great PSU. Never go cheap when it comes to a PSU, or you may have dire consequences. CoolMax isn't a new brand... it been a low-end generic brand for years. It is most likely crap. Buyer beware.

I suppose I'll just stick with the HX1000.

No proper load testing. No simultaneous rail testing. No oscilloscope. No internal analysis. Putting a 600w load on PSU and saying it works means close to nothing. Where the ripple information? Can it actually do 950w? What's the efficency?

It's hard to say how good the 950 is, I can't find any reviews for it. Normally I would write off Coolmax but their 1350W unit from Sirtec is a beast. But, it seems to be on the same platform as the 700W version which isn't all that great. At this point I would probably avoid it since it is an unknown, but it is a lot of PSU for $75 even though performance probably isn't all that great. On the other hand, that Corsair is a very nice PSU and worth every bit of the $200. Depending on the system it will run, you could just go with the Corsair tx750 for ~$95 and would be a better purchase than the Coolmax.
