Default Do I need to upgrade my PSU?

Alright here is the skinny... I noticed that when running Intel Burn-In Test that my vdroop changed drastically with my quad vs. the dual core i used to have. Also in OCCT I would always get more voltage fluctuation than any concerned user would hope for under a load. But my biggest deal is that I am looking at adding a watercooling loop so that means adding a pump and a few more fans to the mix. Currently I haven't seen any significant signs or problems, but I don't want to have to have my system down for a few days while I order a new PSU. All insight is welcome.

Thanks,
walleNNNN

well i was actually looking at this.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371011 . which would you choose? i know antec is a respected name, but in my opinion seasonic psu's are highly efficient and remarkably quite. So would the extra 100w be worth the money? Price really is no object. And I just bought an Antec 1200 so cable management shouldn't be a problem.

Yea, that one is a darn good PSU. It'll leave some headroom if you ever upgrade your GPU.

I would choose the Antec because of its modularity.

Rails look good too.

Sunbeam NUUO 550W is a 550w but only has about 260w/280w on the 12v so you should look for a better one. The antec 650w in your link is a good psu.

Wait wait, dont the p35 chipsets have a naturally bad vdroop, as well as id assume with a naturally bad vdroop wouldnt it not get worse changing to a quad core?

While ive never heard anything good or bad about a sunbeam psu, i dont want to say its at fault.

Id get or borrow a multimeter (if you dont already have one) and check your 12v line at load and idle and compare the range and truly see if its the culprit.

If you plan to upgrade components as i assume you are you might as well get a new psu just to get it out of the way.

AFAIK I do believe that its not just the chipsets problem. The greater watt usage of the quad my not have yet brought about any mishaps or failures, but I don't feel like flirting with disaster and I am only going to add more to my system. ( Forgot I have another raptor otw.) So I believe it is time for this NUUO to find a new home. FS/FT section here it comes.

EDIT: antec psu has been ordered.
