Default How reliable are refurbished power supplies?

I've searched through the site, but I can't seem to find a specific thread about this. Does anyone have any experience with refurbished power supplies? I'm seriously thinking about jumping on the deal for a CM Real Power Pro 750W. I don't expect it to perform as well as a brand new one, but what level of performance should I expect to see with one of these?

Should be ok, they usually come with 1 year warranty anyway, so it's just the same as buying new really

That's my view anyway

Give it a try and let us know.

In my early days building rigs, I put together a "bare bones" system from Tiger Direct that included a cheapo PSU. as the months went by, I upgraded my motherboard to an Asus board which apparently required more power than my cheapo PSU could supply and the power supply went south taking my new motherboard with it. I was told I was lucky that other components weren't damaged (ram, cpu, etc).

My point is I never skimp when it comes to the PSU in any system I put together specifically because if it fails, it may damage something more expensive along with it. My advice would be to buy something new and reputable for performance sake if not peace of mind.

And after they fix what was wrong they should be sent through rigorous testing. I wouldn't worry about it. A lot of people around here have been buying the CM refrubs for folding rigs and I don't recall anyone complaining about DOAs or failures.

Yeah, I would say if you're buying directly from the manufacturer, you have nothing to worry about.

I purchased this PSU about a month ago (review on site). Recently added an additional GTX 260 and I don't think the PSU is giving that card enough power. The card will crash after about 30 seconds of use. Thought it was a drive issue at first, now not so sure. Maybe it's PSU related or not, don't know. Also, just now (in like 10 mins of time) I hear a sparking noises coming from the PSU. Ordering a new PSU now. It is one h*** of a price though and still worth a try IMO.

I'm currently using that very PSU. I couldn't be happier with it. It comes with a 3-year warranty so you shouldn't have any worries.

I'm currently powering a 9800GTX with two 6-pin connectors and a 9600GSO with one 6-pin.

EDIT: I also bought that unit refurbed from the CM store.
