Hello.
__________________I currently have this PSU. Thermaltake Purepower W0100RU 500W I'm wondering if I will be able to upgrade my CPU, Motherboard, HSF, and OS and still keep the PSU. I also plan to overclock the AMD Phenom 720 to 3.6 or 3.8 Max. CPU - AMD Phenom II X3 720 Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P OS - Windows Vista Home Premium 64Bit Heatsink - Xigmatek Dark Knight-S1283V I also currently run a 9600GT and CORSAIR XMS2 2GB. Also, if I do need to upgrade, what PSU should I get to meet (or exceed) my requirments for under $100?

I don't see a problem with it, but if you want to upgrade get this.

I was thinking of that one, but both of these don't have an 8 pin connector for the CPU. Would I have to get an adapter? I read somewhere on these forums that I don't need too, but I will limit the overclocking potentials.

I think your current one is good enough for what you got.
my mobo has a 8 pin cpu connection but i only use one 4 pin connector even though my psu has two and it works fine.

That 500w psu is one of weak psu in TT's psu. It only can do 29a on 12v. Oced 720 may take up to 190w depending on voltage/speed. 9600gt is a 95w gpu. Based on what you have, it should be fine for now but limit the future upgrade.

Alright, thanks to all you guys.
![]() Last question just to make sure. ![]() Will I need an adapter or no? I think there won't be any noticeable differences.
