Default Advice of PSU

I've had several people suggest the Corsair 1000HX for me. This is what I am currently using. There is nothing wrong with what I have, I just have an urge to upgrade it.

Only requirements I have, is that it must support SLI 295's (considering upgrading to this) and be modular.

A PSU like the HX1000W is overkill for the GTX 295 in SLI. Something like their HX850W would be fine and it would cost less!

Now, I suppose you might be wondering if your current PSU would be ok then. Well, now that I think about it: I suppose it probably would be perfectly ok. After all, it's not like you're looking to tri-SLI the GTX 295.

The only problem I noticed with my psu is that I don't have the power connectors for a 295. The 295 requires a 6 & 8pin and I only have 6pins.

Also how does the # of 12v rails effect everything?

Just use Molex to PCI-E Power Connection and you should be fine. Number of rails doesn't really matter as long as the Total 12V line has enough Amp's to power the cards and the CPU, you should be fine.

The GTX 295's will come with the correct adapters so that you can use the PSU's molex connectors.

As for the # of rails: I don't quite know how to explain it, so I will leave it to somebody who does. But it can vary from PSU to PSU. But with this PSU, I think I'll go out on a limb and say that it should be able to handle the GTX 295 in SLI pretty well.
