I have to buy a 750 W Power Supply and i am at this choice!
__________________I will use it to power up an ATI 5850 . Is the price difference between a TX and HX worth? Is HX version really that better than the TX to pay a significant difference? Thx in advance!

If you care a lot about wire management then go for the HX. Personally I regret going with the TX since I don't have many places to hide the wires so I've been trying to trade for a HX.

HX is modular and TX is not. From what I remember, both have the same harware inside. If you can afford it,I would go with the HX,simply for the modular design

Go for the HX if you can afford it. The cable management that it allows you to do is well worth the extra money.

and i don't think wire management is a problem since i have a big case and i won't be playing with the parts so often to require a good wire management. From the performance POV, is there any diff?

Okay, here are the facts: Both are made by CWT, the 750TX has 60A/720W on the 12V rail, the HX750 has 744W. The HX is more efficient, has less ripple, more stable rails, and is modular. It also runs cooler and quieter.
Modular means that you can only use the cables that you want to use, the rest can be kept seperately, and only plugged in once needed, it's a nice feature. May I make another suggestion? The Antec TruePower New 750W - it's made by SeaSonic, is modular, has 62A/744W on the 12V rail, it is between the 750TX and 750HX in terms of performance, but also price. This is a better choice than the 750TX, in my opinion. Here is a link to a JonnyGuru review for the PSU. ![]() Quote:

The tx750 is based on an older, but still reasonably good PSH design from Channel Well. The hx750 is based on a modified version of Channel Well's new DSG lineup. In pretty much every measure the hx750 will perform better, but it's not like you will notice much of a difference in the real world apart from efficiency. Build quality is roughly the same. I'd say the hx750 is on average ~5-6% more efficient than the tx750, but unless you run your computer at full load 24/7 you won't see much of a difference when it comes to your electricity bill.

You won't need the capabilities of these 750W power supplies with the 5850 in your system. You could spend less on something like the the HX650W and be just fine. You could even use the HX520W, but it looks like the newer, blue-colored HX series PSUs are superior (they're also discontinuing the HX520W and 620).
