Default Rattling noise--help!

My PSU--or something really close to it--is making weird noises. I wasn't doing anything when it started, just internet browsing. It's definitely not the fans. It's like a constant, loud clicking/rattling noise, and it seems to be something that spins (when I turned it off it sounded like it was rotating). I'll guess it clicks somewhere between 3 - 4 times per second...

I'm going to take a wild guess and say this isn't good. I immediately put my computer on standby. Any advice/ideas? Time to look for a new one?

Are you sure it's not a faulty HD? Possibly a cooling fan in the PSU? It's difficult to say.

It's definitely coming from the PSU cage. There's an airflow fan right next to it, and it's not that. I suppose it might be the PSU fan... are there any rotating parts in the PSU, other than that?

No, the fan or fans would be the only moving parts unless there could possibly be a faulty relay making the clicking noise.

Okay, that's a relief then, because it definitely sounded like decelerating spinning when I powered off. I'll try to remove dust later tonight and see if that's the problem, and maybe pull it out and check that it's working.

Thanks mate.

Damn, they're vicious, still going. I tried to open it up, but there's a wire screen I can't remove from the PSU, so I'll just have to stick with it. Hopefully it just stops eventually...
