my parents PSU went on the fritz it turns on and off like every half second, so I looked around for other psu's that I have and all I could come up with is a 300w one from their old computer that my cousin built for us.
their pc has a 7900 GS AGP, 2x1GB RAM, 1 DVD drive, 1 5400 IDE hard drive and a 3.2GHZ Pentium 4 CPU (the older ones not one of the newer like 65nm versions) so what do u think should I attempt to run it with this stuff. The only thing Im worried about is if the Video card will put it over the top and blow something eventually..... cause this old 300w was in a system that was very similar cept it had a 3.0 ghz P4 and a 9800 something..... so any thoughts? Reps for helping

My old rig ran off a 300 watt PSU (and not a good one at that) and had pretty much identical specs (I had an X550,oh yeah lol) .It ran perfectly fine for years

cutting it close, depending on the brand of the 300 watt PSU
Hmm my brothers old 939 AMD single core rig couldn't power up with a 300watt PSU and a 7900gs , ended up getting a 450watt deal and everything was peachy.. (both PSU's were in proper working order btw) takeit as a grain of salt

kk thanks y'all usually I like to be comfortable with the whole PSU thing and get one with MORE than enough power, the one I had in there before was a 650w

You can get a thermaltake 450W for like 40$ or a corsair 400W for like 40-50$ as well..

300W will easily run that. You do not need more than that really.

If a solid psu does 20A on 12v, it should work. Between TR2 430w and 400cx, 400cx is better. It does 30A on 12v vs. 18A-22A on 12v for TR2 430w depending on the model.
